Quizizz alternative: ClassSense vs Quizizz (now Wayground)

If you searched for Quizizz and landed somewhere called Wayground, you are in the right place: same company, new name. Here is how it compares with ClassSense.

Source note. I read Wayground's homepage in October 2026. Its address quizizz.com redirects to wayground.com, and the page header says Quizizz is now Wayground. I could not find a price for teachers on the pages I read, so I quote none.

The name change

Quizizz is now Wayground. Visiting quizizz.com took me to wayground.com, the banner on the homepage says "Quizizz is now Wayground", and its footer credits Quizizz Inc. doing business as Wayground. Press coverage I found dated the new name to 2025, with the old name fading out of the product through that year. Search engines and many teachers still say Quizizz, which is why this page uses both names.

What Wayground says it does

The homepage describes AI-powered assessments, presentations, video and flashcards. A teacher can generate a full activity from a topic, document, standard or upload. Students take an assessment run as a competitive game or a serious exam, do auto-graded homework, work through flashcards, or watch video with comprehension checks. A presentation can be run live with the class or sent to an absent student to do on their own. It lists common assessments rolled up by teacher, school and standard, and a way to translate activities. A "Sign up free" button is offered to individual teachers, and schools request a quote. Students join using a code.

What ClassSense does differently

The two products overlap more than most on this site: both take your material, generate questions, and have students answer them. The difference is where the emphasis sits.

ClassSense does have games: Never Look Down, Arena Brawl, Dig It Up and Escape Lab, plus four formats a student can choose. The games sit on top of the skills. See review games for more.

Where Wayground is the better choice

Where ClassSense is the better fit

When what you want is not another quiz but an answer to "who has not got this skill yet, and what is their misconception?" Wrong choices in ClassSense items point at a named misconception, so the pattern of misses says something. Compare this with the Kahoot comparison, which has the same live-game question.

Who should not switch

Teachers whose students already love the Friday game, whose school pays for Wayground, or who need live whole-class sessions. Keep it. If you want to test the mastery side, one unit in ClassSense alongside it is a low-risk way to see whether the skill view adds something your quiz scores do not.
