ClassSense for math teachers

Math is the subject where adaptive practice pays off most, and also the one with the biggest honest caveat about uploads. Both are below.

No subject benefits more from per-skill mastery than mathematics. Skills stack, a gap in week three quietly breaks week nine, and a percentage grade hides exactly which brick is missing. Tracking mastery per skill rather than per assignment is the difference between knowing a student is struggling and knowing they never got negative exponents.

Where it is strong

Read this before you subscribe. Mathematical notation rendered as images in a PDF does not extract. If your unit is a scan, or built in a tool that exports equations as pictures, the system reads the surrounding prose and misses the mathematics. Documents where notation is real text work properly. Test with one unit before you plan a term around it, because this is the single most likely way ClassSense disappoints a math teacher.

What is not automated

Multi-step working, where the credit is in the method rather than the answer, still needs your eyes. ClassSense grades the answer and tracks the skill; it does not award method marks.

The practical use

Most math teachers who get value here use it for the volume: warm-ups, consolidation sets, retrieval practice, and the differentiated third of the class who need something other than what is on the board. The heatmap then tells you which skill to reteach on Monday, which is the only part of the data that changes what you do.

Common questions

Does it show working?

Generated worked examples show reasoning step by step. Student work is not auto-graded, so credit for method stays with you.

What if my PDFs are scans?

Extraction will be poor, because the mathematics is a picture. Use documents where notation is real text, and test one unit first.

Can it generate infinite practice?

Practice can be regenerated as often as you need at no extra cost, at the difficulty tier you choose.
