What is collectedAccount info (name, email, role, school name); student learning activity (answers, mastery scores, game activity, learning-style preference, nicknames); teacher-uploaded curriculum; parent–teacher messages; standard server logs. No advertising trackers.
PurposeOperating the adaptive learning service only. No advertising, no sale of data, no unrelated use — ever.
Where it livesFly.io cloud infrastructure, United States region. Encrypted in transit (HTTPS); passwords stored as bcrypt hashes.
SubprocessorsFly.io (hosting & database, US), Anthropic (AI lesson generation & grading — API data not used for model training), Resend (transactional email).
FERPAClassSense operates as a service provider under the direction of the teacher/school ("school official" exception). Educational records remain under school control.
COPPA (under-13)Students join only via teacher-issued class codes; ClassSense relies on school/teacher consent on behalf of parents, and collects no more student information than participation requires.
Access controlsRole-scoped: teachers see their own classes; parents see only their own linked child; students see only themselves. Parent links require a teacher-issued invite code.
Retention & deletionKept while the account is active. Teachers can delete courses/materials anytime; full account and data deletion on request within 30 days.
Breach notificationAffected account holders notified by email without undue delay after confirmation of any breach involving personal data.
Data portabilityA copy of your school's data (rosters, mastery records) provided on request.
